I live and paint in Sisters, Oregon. I started painting in the 1990s while living in Bend, Oregon. My first efforts were a “do-it-yourself” way to decorate our home, but I soon found that I was producing more art than I had wall space. I have since shown and sold my work throughout the northwest.

One of my main influences was my friend and mentor, Avalon Parsons, whose oil paintings have been shown in galleries throughout Oregon. I often use a palette knife as my only application tool when painting landscapes in oil, but I pick up my brushes to create works that include human and animal figures.

My approach to art is to capture a place, a moment, or a notion in the hope that the viewer can experience it with me. My works are often reminiscent of Central Oregon and the Pacific Northwest coast.

My media and methods are eclectic and include impressionist oil paintings applied entirely by palette knife; experimental acrylics; cut paper collage; and water media on non-traditional surfaces.

For art to surpass a photograph of a thing of beauty, it must reach beyond the image to reproduce the sensation of the moment. This is my goal in every piece of art.
